Knowledge Management as an effective workforce’s capacity building tool

This paper aims to suggest positive associations between knowledge management and capacity building in three different sectors. Although Health is defined by WHO as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, The Knowledge Management Institute (KMI) totally agrees with such definition but deeply emphasizes that state consists of effective human resource development (HRD).
Since 2010, KMI partners with such three organizations mainly motivate workplace through 1-year-healthy building up program. They believe that “Human” is the most valuable asset and also the key success factor for sustainable operation and business.
National Health Commission Office (NHCO) set up the Public Health Policy Program to educate and empower networks from state agencies, academics and general public to advocate healthy public policies for the well-being of the nation. This program deploys knowledge management concept and tools to continuously circulate knowledge between networks.
Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Co-operatives (BAAC) developed a unique knowledge management workshop for 30 upcoming retirement staffs. This succession plan is to transfer senior management’s experiences towards successors. It both directly enhances loyalty and also indirectly increases respect relationship among these two generations.
SCGExperience implemented knowledge management workshops as one of capacity building tools in order to achieve the most recognized flagship retail store for Siam Cement Group (SCG) brand by the year 2013. These workshops are specifically adapted for KM core team and change agents performance development.
It is obviously seen that KM is one of the critical factors for HRD because it has been intentionally designed to balances both hard-side and soft-side skills, top management vision to front line staff practices, spiritual and competencies.
Finally, these organizations develop their own effective individual and high performance change agents to set up systematically and flexible KM capacity building program.
